Wolf costume from Running With Scissors

September 19, 2011

I have been following the Running With Scissors blog for a while now. Jessica has so many interesting projects on the go and great tutorials so I always look forward to her posts. I originally found it while searching for a Max from Where the Wild Things Are costume and Jessica had made a brilliant one as a Halloween costume for her son. I’ve been inspired to make one ever since but hadn’t started it yet. So I was very excited when she posted a request for pattern testers a couple of weeks ago and I immediately took up the opportunity.

I have not been sewing for very long but really wanted to try this out. There was also added time pressure as Jessica needed our feedback by the following weekend. It is a pdf pattern so you print it out, then cut and attach the pieces together. This takes a while but the pattern also includes fox and bear costumes in addition to the wolf, so I definitely think I will use it again. I found the pattern explained each step really well which made it very easy to follow and I’m really pleased with how it turned out. I also enjoyed being involved in the testing process. You can buy the pattern here now. Casper is not normally keen on dressing up but he really likes this costume. Now I just have to make one for Rowan.

I can’t believe you’re new to sewing because this looks pristine! You must have natural talent, I kind of slop through my sewing. I love his cute face in the last picture, so glad to have been able to get to know you a little!
